It is my pleasure to extend greetings to our school community on behalf of the staff of Sawmill Creek Elementary School. We are looking forward to the coming year and to working with you in what will be an exciting and productive experience for students, staff, and parents alike. Sawmill Creek Elementary School is a dual track school, with just over 550 students, offering Regular Program JK-Grade 8 (English and Core French) and French Immersion from Senior Kindergarten to Grade 8. We also have Special Education and English Second Language teachers who work collaboratively with homeroom teachers to assist our students. With all of our programs, we will strive to foster high academic achievement, good character, self-confidence, initiative, self-discipline and a sense of accomplishment in all of our students. In order to ensure the best possible education for your children, it is essential that we maintain good communication between the home and the school. If, at any time, you have questions or concerns, please feel free to call your child's teacher or the school office (613-521-5922) or drop by the school to see us. We are very excited to be beginning a brand new school year! It certainly is the most wonderful time of the year for students, parents and staff.
As we start the first week of school for the 2015-2016 academic year, I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Bambi Ross and I am the Principal here at Sawmill Creek Elementary School. Over the last two years, I have had the opportunity to meet and work with most of you and I look forward to meeting new members of the Sawmill community over the days and weeks to come. On Tuesday, we will be having an assembly were we will introduce new staff and review expectations and routines. Over the next several weeks, we will be working on practicing and establishing these routines that will set the foundation for what I hope will be a great year of great learning. I hope you are able to take some time to discuss these routines and expectations with your child. I am so excited about this year and know it is going to be fantastic as we set off on our adventure of learning together.
If you are not already actively involved in the school I would like to take this opportunity to encourage you to get involved. There are so many ways you can help out. Volunteering during the day, attending school council meetings, helping with special events are only some of the ways you can help out. I believe that a successful school is the result of a strong partnership between the students, staff and parents. Sawmill is a strong school but it can be even stronger; your help can make this happen. Please feel free to contact me at the school at 613-521-5922, if you have any questions or concerns. Here's to a wonderful 2015/2016 school year.
